Prevention at school
Today's pupils are tomorrow's workers. Many teenagers already suffer neck and shoulder pain, in particular due to excessive use of smartphones, tablets and other screen devices. Our responsiblity as adults is to empower them to safeguard their future health: this is what TIPM stands for!
School furniture is rarely well adapted, both to children and their teachers. I work with school administrations and procurement departments to improve classroom ergonomics.
Recent studies have also shown that a healthy posture helps feeling self-confident, hence boosts learning capabilities: simple prevention programs can have multiple long-term effects! Hence, I offer to train parents and teachers so that they adopt a common approach towards children, be it to teach them what a healthy posture is or how to master screens in their lives.
What is adequate furniture and hardware for children and their teachers? How should heavy school bags be dealt with? I look at these and other school-related issues through a professional occupational health lens.
Our good or bad postural habits were born in our young age. Hence, school is a major actor of physical health prevention. I can help school admins implement preventive exercise programs in class, whilst parents do the same at home.
